What is
Autoimmune Disease?

Simply put, autoimmune disease (AD) occurs when the body’s immune system malfunctions and attacks itself. The immune system should be able to differentiate between foreign bodies and your own healthy cells and tissues in order to function properly.

For example, in Rheumatoid Arthritis the immune system malfunctions and sees the joints and surrounding tissue as a danger and attacks it. In Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis it attacks the thyroid. For Alzheimer’s the immune system attacks and degrades the brain.
