Healing with food is a given with Healable Meals.  But just as important as consuming nutrient-dense deliciousness is staying hydrated.  Water is essential for life, but it is crucial when trying to heal from the inside out.  Your liver and kidneys need water in order to flush out what it has been filtering.  If it doesn’t receive the vital fluids it needs it becomes sluggish and slows down the cleansing process.  Healing means eliminating the harmful things we ingest, breathe and absorb and the liver and kidneys are the main players in this process.

Here are some tips we suggest you employ for staying hydrated throughout the day.

  • Get your motor running:  Start every day with a big glass of water.  First thing.  12-16 oz. before coffee or food.
  • After your first glass of water; to really get things flowing, add a squeeze of lemon to an 8 oz. cup of warm water.  This is a helpful morning routine to include to aid in daily bowel movements.
  • Drink a glass or two between meals.  *Avoid drinking fluids with your meals, 30 minutes before or after a meal. It dilutes your stomach acid and slows down digestion of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
  • Bring a water bottle with you at all times to make sure you have access to clean water. Be sure to avoid plastic one-use water bottles.  Not only is it bad for the environment, but the chemicals from the plastic can leach into your body.
  • If you just can’t take plain ‘ol water, try herbal teas, citrus or cucumber in water to give you a variety.
  • Add a pinch of Himalayan sea salt to 8 oz. of water to provide essential minerals to your body.
A true day of hydration should include a total of 68-76oz of water.

Your liver and kidneys thank you.
